Dharamsala: Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal today said in the assembly that the CFL scheme launched by Himachal government under which 15 lakh families were supplied CFL bulbs free of cost helped in saving energy to the tune of Rs 100 crore while the total cost of CFL was Rs 63.32 crore.
Dhumal said free distribution of CFL bulbs under Atal Bijli Bachat Yojna was started in 2008 and as per the statistics provided by HPSEB, 15 lakh families were able to save 17.5 lakh units of power valued at Rs 100 crore.
He said the matter had also been taken under UNFCC for carbon credits and if the claim put forth by the government was accepted, annual income of Rs 8 to 10 crore would accrue to the HPSEB.
He said that the bulbs purchased were of high quality and only small percentage was found defective and replaced. He said that a petition filed in the High Court against the scheme had been rejected by the court.
