5 feared killed in Kupvi bus accident; SDM beaten by public

Shimla: Police and rescue workers on Wednesday morning again began search for people who were missing a day after their bus skidded off the road into a rivulet near Kupvi in Shimla district.

5 people were feared killed in the accident as three bodies could not be recovered and declared missing.

Police officer Sohan Lal said, "The missing passengers were either trapped in the bus or drowned. The bus is lying 100 feet below the road.

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has informed his counterpart in Uttarakhand about the accident. A government spokesperson said there was a possibility of bodies being swept towards Uttarakhand as the accident spot was located on the border of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile Himvani.com reported that the local SDM Ramesh Chand was thrashed this morning by the local public as there was anger against delayed rescue mission by the administration. As per the website people gathered in front of his Chopal office and he was later beaten.
