53 new cases of diarrhea in Shimla

Shimla: There was no respite from diarrhea in Shimla as 53 new cases were reported from different part of the town today. Out of these, one was admitted at IGMC, Shimla, the rest, 52 cases were treated as outpatient cases. 37 were treated at Civil Dispensary Sanjauli, 9 at Rippon Hospital and 6 at IGMC.

The health department held a review meeting today which was chaired by the Principal Secretary, Health. People were asked to drink only boiled water especially in the affected area and not to use local natural sources for as there is a fear of those being contaminated.

The government today formed four teams to inspect the affected wards of Shimla town namely Sanjauli, Chamyana, Kasumpti and to take measures to ensure proper water supply and sanitation.
