Grief continues on Himachal roads; another bus accident in Shimla

This time it was in Shimla where a private bus met with an accident on Thursday morning when it overturned near Nigam Vihar. About 20 people were reported to be injured in the mishap.

The private bus overturned near the police headquarters at 5.45 am., Superintendent of Police R.M. Sharma was quoted in the media.

The bus was supposed to leave from Shimla bus stand to Kupvi via Shillai in Sirmaur district. Thirty people were traveling in the bus at the time of the accident.

Two people, including a child, were seriously injured and have been admitted in IGMC at Shimla.

The government seems to be clueless over the regular spate of accidents in the state. On Tuesday morning a private bus from Manali to Delhi had met with an accident on Himachal border near Anandpur Sahib, 5 person were killed in the accident. Most of the people were on their honeymoon trip, their trip ending up in a death trip on Himachal roads.

Earlier a state transport bus from Delhi to Darlaghat fell into a gorge near Jabli and 3 people were killed. Another state transport bus met with an accident when it collided head on with a truck in Bekhalti, in Shimla district.

With Christmas weekend holidays starting tomorrow, there is fear of more blood getting spilled on Himachal roads. Govt. machinery seems helpless in ensuring safe journey across the state.
