Shimla: Refuting charges levelled by former ADGP BS Thind who in a statement yesterday had blamed the BJP government for selling the plant machinery, Horticulture Minster Narender Bragta today blamed Thind for mis-management at the AIPIL factory during his tenure.
Bragta said the factory suffered huge losses during the period when Thind was Managing Director of the factory. He said the total loss of the factory was 24.32 crores during his tenure and Thind took a loan of 13 crore which was not returned back. It was the BJP govt later which had repaid the loan. He said the financial health of the factory deteriorated, only during his tenure. He said Thind was facing corruption charges as a case was lodged against him by the BJP government in 2001 for fudging funds at the AIPIL factory.
Commenting on Thind’s charge of discontinuing the practise of keeping marketing agents, Bragta said during Thind’s tenure though no payments were collected for the sale of cartons, but these agents were paid 13.70 lakhs as commission.
Bragta said the total work force at the factory was 50 when Thind had joined but it went upto 150 when he left causing financial constrains to the unit. He said the matter of sale of machinery was being heard in the courts and all facts would be presented in the court only.
