Snowfall in higher reaches intensified cold condition in Himachal Pradesh, where as capital Shimla and other areas witnessed a sharp fall in temperature today. According to Met Department, snowfall was reported from Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba and upper regions of Kullu. A report from Lahaul and Spiti said that snowfall started in the afternoon and continued till evening.
Though there was no rain or snow in Shimla and other lower areas of the state, but cloudy weather coupled with cold winds plummeted temperature in these places.
Shimla recorded day temperature of 12.5 degree Celsius in comparison to 17.9 degree Celsius yesterday, the Met office sources said. Mercury dropped in other parts of the state too.
Sundernagar recorded day temperature of 16.9 degree Celsius, while it was 9 degree Celsius in Kalpa and 16.8 degree Celsius in Dharamsala.
