Cold waves keep people confined to homes in Himachal

Shimla: There was no respite from the cold wave prevalent in the state on Monday as temperature fell below zero in higher reaches of the state. People preferred to stay indoors due to the icy winds and overcast sky across the state.

Keylong in Lahul Spiti district was the coldest with mercury dropping to minus 3.9 degrees. Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded minus 0.8 degrees.

Shimla recorded a low of 3.9 degrees where as Bhuntar in Kullu was 28 degrees and Dharamshala was at 4.5 degrees.

Met office predicted rain or snow is in higher reaches of the state in the next 24 hours.
