Congress moves no confidence motion in Himachal assembly

Shimla: Opposition Congress  today moved  no confidence motion against the state government on second day of the monsoon session of Himachal Pradesh assembly.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly today debated the no-confidence motion against the state government tabled by opposition Congress. Soon after the question hour, Speaker Tulsi Ram informed the house that he had received a notice of no-confidence against the government and allowed the same.

The motion was moved by leader of opposition Vidya Stokes and was backed by 22 Congress members. When the Speaker asked about discussion on the no-confidence motion, chief minister Dhumal said that it should be taken up immediately and discussion on the motion started, suspending all other business.

Moving the no-confidence motion, Stokes launched a frontal attack on the government and said that the BJP government in the state was mother of corruption. Taking a dig at the BJP, Stokes said, “Both the BJP and the Government were institutions with a difference in the state that breed endless scandals and corruption”.

The motion was moved by leader of opposition Vidya Stokes and was backed by 22 Congress members. The motion was rejected amidst pandemonium, slogan-shouting and walkout by opposition Congress.

The proceedings of the House remained stalled for about 40 minutes as Congress members, agitated by the remarks of the Chief Minister P.K.Dhumal during his reply to the marathon debate, interrupted him and raised slogans and trooped into the well.

The BJP members also raised counter-slogans and nothing was heard in the din.
