Shimla: Chief Minister PK Dhumal today appealed to Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to reconsider the ministry’s decision to discontinue Delhi-Una Himachal Express train service from December 23.
Terming the discontinuation of the train services due to foggy conditions, Dhumal termed the move by the Railways as unfortunate and against people’s wish. He alleged the state has been denied of expansion of railway network since independence and only 33 km of broad gauge lines had been put.
Dhumal said it was for the decision by the Railways would affect people of lower Himachal. The foggy weather conditions is a normal thing during winter and never before any train service had been curtailed, he added.
