Dharamshala: A breakfast reception was hosted today in the honour of the Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and members of the state legislative assembly by the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
The honorary reception hosted in the courtyard of the Main Temple (Tsuglagkhang) here came on the concluding day of a four-day winter session of the Himachal state assembly, which began on Dec 6.
Hailing Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama as Buddha of this era Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said the Buddhist monk was an apostle of Mahatma Gandhi’s message of peace and non-violence.
"The Dalai Lama is the greatest living Buddhist monk, the Buddha of this era, and an apostle of Mahatma Gandhi’s message of peace and non-violence," Dhumal said during a breakfast reception.
"I pray for long and healthy life of the Dalai Lama. May the Tibet issue be resolved soon and the relationship between Indians and Tibetan peoples continue to flourish," he said.
Vidhya Stokes, Congress leader said the Dalai Lama’s presence in Dharamshala has made the place more beautiful. ‘We are fortunate and blessed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s presence in the state, and we thank him for sustaining Dharamshala as a very beautiful place’, she added.
