Defamation case against Virbhadra dismissed

Una: In a hectic day at the courts on Friday, Union Steel Minister Virbhadra Singh finally managed some relief as a court in Una dismissed civil defamation suit against him filed by former chairman of State Subordinate Service Selection Board, SM Katwal.

After hearing both the parties, civil judge RK Sharma in his verdict said that speeches given by Singh were not to tarnish the image of Katwal.

In his suit Katwal had leveled charges against the Union minister when he was Chief Minister for making alleged malicious and defamatory statement against him during a public meet in years 2003 and 2004.

The court dismissed the case maintaining that charges could not be proven against the Union minister on lack of solid evidence.
