Dharamshala gets 3 crore for facelift ahead of IPL matches

Dharamsala: Himachal Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 3 crore for beautification of the picturesque town of Dharamsala ahead of hosting Indian Premier League matches later this month.

Rs 3 crore has been sanctioned by chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal as a special grant for giving a facelift to Dharamsala which would host IPL matches on April 16 and April 18, an official release said here.

The two matches would be played between Kings XI Punjab and Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super King on respective dates. Meanwhile, preparations were in final stages for the two matches at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium here.

HPCA president Anurag Thakur said this would be the first occasion when the stadium constructed at a cost of Rs 50 crore would host a world-class match. "The stadium has been constructed in accordance with the international standards”, he added.
