Shimla: Himachal Pradesh government today offered land for establishment of Dogra Regimental Centre in the state, preferably in Una district, to facilitate the youth majority of whom were serving in Dogra Regiment.
The offer was made by chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to Lt Gen Jasbir Singh, Chief of Staff, Northern Command, who called on him here today.
The Chief Minister said the state government had been persistently raising the issue of shifting the regimental centre from Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh to Himachal Pradesh where sufficient land was available for the purpose.
The state government is protecting interests of its soldiers and ex-servicemen by providing them liberal financial assistance and employment, he added.
The Lt Gen said it would be in the interest of the youth of the state if Dogra Regimental Centre was relocated in HP.
