Hamirpur: Major Vijay Singh Mankotia, the state President of Himachal Pradesh Ex-servicemen League called upon the Central and state governments to take care of the interests of the serving soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families.
Presiding over a state level function of the League here yesterday, Mankotia alleged that the government was ignoring the interests of ex-servicemen and their families, as there was resentment prevailing among them.
He warned the government of an agitation if it fails to help the ex-servicemen and their families.
‘The day is not far when this community would be on the roads protesting against the government’, he said while addressing large number of ex-servicemen present at the occasion.
On the issue of one rank and one pension, he said it was a vital issue but the Central government was ignoring it on one or the other pretext. He alleged that the bureaucracy was also to be blamed for this mess. He added that he was pained to say that recruitment’s in the Sainik Welfare Department of Himachal Pradesh were being made on contract basis against the norms and it was leading to resentment among the community.
He announced that a regional meeting of the League would be held at Chandigarh on December 16, in which various demands and problems of the ex-servicemen would be discussed.
