German trekker dies in Lahul in Himachal

Shimla: As per reports reaching here, a German trekker died in Lahaul district on Friday. Dietrich Gerhard Ulric, 72 died while trying to negotiate the Topoyongma rivulet.

According to Keylong police 8 Swiss and 2 German trekkers had reached Jispa and were trekking in the Lahul valley. They had put up a camp near Baralacha Pass and left for Chander Tal at 6.30 am.

While trying to cross the rivulet en route, the German slipped and was carried away by the swift current. His foot was reported stuck between two stones in such a way that he could not be pulled out.

By the time the locals helped extricate him, the trekker was dead.
