Govt proposes bypass at Theog on NH22

Shimla: Himachal government is proposing to construct a bypass at Theog in order to save commuters getting stuck  in frequent traffic jams on NH 22.

This was disclosed by PWD minister Thakur Gulab SIngh in Shimla today.

He said a term of reference for preparation of feasibility report  for construction of the Theog bypass has been approved by the Union Minsitry of Road Transport and Highways.

Locals in Theog have long been demanding a bypass for this town due to heavy traffic in the main bazaar. Entire traffic to Kinnaur, Rampur, Kotkhai, Choupal, Rohru passes through this town presently.

The minister said in order to remove traffic bottlenecks in major towns of the state the government is constructing bypass at Hamirpur, Palampur and Kufri.

He said bypasses will also be constructed for Sundernagar, Jogindernagar and Manali towns for which the DPRs are in the last stage for sanction.
