Shimla: Normal life was disrupted at several places in Himachal Pradesh as heavy rains lashed the region, causing landslides and death of two women in a house collapse in Kangra district.
A woman and her niece were buried alive while another woman was injured when a house collapsed at Chakra Khud in Kangra and over a dozen houses were damage due to heavy rains in Nagrota Surian.
Rains blocked several link roads in Kangra, Jogindernagar and Baijnath and the rail services on Jogindernagar-Pathankot route could not be restored even on seventh day.
A bridge was washed away in Nalagarh area and houses were damaged in rains in Sidhpur village in Dharampur area of Mandi district while a portion of historic Ridge maidan developed cracks following intermittent heavy rains.
Paonta Sahib was wettest in the state with 108 mm of rains while Jogindernagar had 70 mm of rains. Kufri and Renuka each had 38 mm showers.
Mehre and Gaggal had 33 mm showers while Shimla received 31 mm rains, the Met office said today.
The local Met office has predicted widespread rains in the region during next 24 hours and very heavy rains at isolated places in mid and lower hills.
