Heavy rains disrupt traffic in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: Heavy rains in past 24 hours disrupted normal life in Himachal Pradesh. Traffic was disrupted due to landslides on major shimla-rainnational highways and link roads in the state.

Traffic on NH21 remained suspended near Saat Meel and Duad near Mandi on Sunday due to heavy landslides in the area. The road was opened only on Sunday evening due to which large number of tourists traveling from/to Manali remained strandedĀ on the road.

Mandi Pathankot highway was blocked near Guma and Mandi-Sandhol road was blocled atĀ Dagain Nullah causing hardship to the traveling public.

Traffic was also disrupted near Kaza in Spiti on Saturday night and hundreds of vehicles were stuck on the road. The road was finally cleared on Sunday, an official of PWD department said.

The met office in Shimla have predicted very heavy rainfall for Monday and Tuesday in the state.

Mandi in Himachal Pradesh received 86 mm of rainfall while Dharamshala received 20.6 mm rains and Shimla received 16 mm of rainfall in past 24 hours.

Major rivers like Satluj and Beas were in a spate in the state but still flowing below the danger level, a government spokesman said.
