Himachal decides to make leasehold land into freehold land

Shimla: A cabinet sub-committee headed by the state Revenue Minister Gulab Singh today decided to formulate a policy to convert the leased land into freehold and necessary follow up action on the decision would be taken soon, an official spokesman said

Thousands of people who have been allotted land on leasehold basis by the Himachal Pradesh government can now hope for converting the land into freehold.

It was decided in the meeting that the prevalent rules regarding conversion of leasehold into freehold in neighboring states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh will be studied before making the final recommendations to the land users.
