Himachal ex MLA passes away

Shimla: Mr. Bhaskaranand, an ex MLA, passed away today at his native place near Basantpur in Sunni. He was 93 years old.

He took active part in the independence movement and founded Prajamandal in erstwhile Bhajji state and was general secretary of Prajamandal of Shimla hill State.

He was a member of All India Congress Committee and Provincial Congress Committee. He was also imprisoned and externed from Bhajji State for three years under Quit India movement.

He was elected to H.P. Vidhan Sabha in 1977 and remained MLA for one term.

    I had danced on his victory in the streets of Shimla, with a huge mob. He then defeated JBL Khachi in Vidhan Sabha election.
