Himachal ‘golden’ boy honoured

Shimla: The State government announced it would organise an impressive function to honour outstanding sportspersons in the month of December this year during Youth Festival at Hamirpur, who had won medals in international, national and state-level sports competitions.

This was stated by Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, after he honoured XIX Commonwealth Gold Medal Winner Vijay Kumar Sharma, a serving soldier in the Indian Army, hailing from Hamirpur district with traditional Himachali cap and shawl on his first visit after winning three Gold and one Silver medals in recently concluded Commonwealth Games.

He said it was heartening to note that the shooters from Himachal Pradesh had exhibited outstanding performance and in all won three gold, two silver and one bronze medals for the country. Dhumal also said the State Government would be organising a grand function to honour the sports talents of the state.

”As announced earlier, the state government would provide a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh on each Gold Medal, Rs 5 lakh on each silver Medal and Rs 3 lakh on each Bronze Medal won during recently concluded Commonwealth Games in New Delhi,” the CM said.

    Give atleast 1 crore to promote such talented youth and also a youth sports policy to promote sports
    Along with, making Himachal Education Hub teh Per Capita Income Shall be increased for athis a viable solution for providing irrigation facility for the hilly areas shall be prepared
    check dam aon all the rivers khads shall be made so that crop / vegetation may become easy
