Posted by Himachal Government has mooted the idea of exploring possibilities for setting up Ring- Rail Project for providing efficient transport service in Shimla in association with the Railways. This was agreed upon between Himachal Chief Minister, Prof. Dhumal and Union Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee in a meeting in New Delhi today.
The Chief Minister said the Railways agreed for exploring the possibility of such Ring Rail Project for Shimla town. The technical and financial feasibility of the project would be expressed by conducting detailed survey by international reputed consultancy service firms. He added the State Government would provide all the logistic, technical and infrastructural support to the railways for the purpose.
Prof. Dhumal revealed the railways would extend train services to Amb in Una district once the entire work is fully completed. A demand to start a direct train to Haridwar from Una was also put forth to the Railway ministry.

We all know what happened to Shimla’s development under the JN Mission. The tunnel just below the Auckland school is still lying unfinished!!
Who prepares these studies and project reports? This cannot be undertaken by any government department. Start digging and one may find a scam here too.
BTW, for a good transport system in Shimla, over crowding in buses needs to be stopped. Can any government worth it’s salt stop this??
