Shimla: Himachal Pradesh High Court today issued suo motu notice to the state government and the four accused in the Aman Kachroo ragging case leading to his death, who were granted bail by a Dharamshala fast track court last week.
The court of Justice DD Sud initiated the proceeding on its own initiative and directed the government and the accused to file their replies by July 24.
Justice Sud also directed the government to ensure that the accused Ajay Verma, Naveen Verma, Abhinav Verma and Mukul Sharma are present in the court on the date of hearing.
Issuing the notice, the court asked, why should the bail granted to the accused not be cancelled?
Earlier on Saturday, the Dhramshala fast track court granted bail to the four accused, all charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The judge said as statements of all witnesses had been recorded and evidence collected there was no need to keep them in custody.
Earlier, Aman Kachroo’s father Rajinder Kachroo had alleged that the state government was not pursing the case properly. He had said, “I am highly disappointed not because all the accused are out on bail but it will send out a wrong message. Anybody can get away with murder."
