Himachal seeks CSD facility for Para Military Personnel

Himachal Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal has raised the issue of providing CSD canteen facilities to the personnel of Para Military Forces in the State at par with ex-Servicemen and other Armed Forces. In a letter written to the Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram, he has requested to create such facilities in the districts which had majority of its people in military and para military forces.

He said there were 1,20,590- serving, 1,01,057 ex-servicemen, 1,048 war widows, 25,573 other widows, 3,75,460 dependants of ex-servicemen and 1,25,250 families depending upon serving soldiers. Out of the total population of about 65 lakh in the state 7,48,978 persons were directly or indirectly related to serving or ex-servicemen.

Prof. Dhumal said the State Government was extending best of the facilities to the ex-servicemen and their wards while the gallantry and distinguished award winners were also being given cash awards.

The provision of CSD Canteen facilities to the Para Military Forces at par with the Ex-Servicemen would give recognition of the services they had rendered to the nation, he added.
