Shimla: Horticulture Minister Narinder Bragta demanded financial assistance for modernising of grading and packing Houses in apple producing areas of Himachal Pradesh.
Bragta met Agricultural Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) Chairman, Aasit Tiwari in New Delhi today. He emphasized the packing and grading houses in Himachal were set up long time back and needed immediate modernisation to serve the demands of fruit growers.
He urged APEDA to grant financial assistance on urgent basis so the work of up-gradation can be taken up soon.
Presently the HPMC runs grading and packing houses at Gumma , Jarol-Tikkar and Oddi in Shimla district, Rekong Peo in Kinnaur district and Patli Kuhal in Kullu district.
Himachal Pradesh also has representation in APEDA as Prakash Thakur, a founder member and vice president of Himachal Fruit Growers Association is a member of of the Board of Directors of APEDA.
