Himachal University remains a red bastion; SFI wins all seats

Shimla: Student Federation of India (SFI) retained it’s stronghold over Himachal Pradesh University campus in Shimla with a clean sweep in university elections, polling to which was done today.

SFI polled over 70% votes in the student elections completely routing the other two parties ABVP and NSUI. Despite best efforts of the ABVP and the ruling BJP in the elections, SFI has kept it’s stronghold intact in the elections.

Himachal Pradesh University campus remains a strong hold of the SFI for the past few years and results are not to the liking of the ruling BJP in the election year.

Following are the results:

For the post of President, Rahul Chauhan of SFI defeated ABVP candidate Dinesh Kumar by a margin of 713 votes by polling 1319 votes.

For Vice President post Priyanka Chauhan of SFI defeated ABVP candidate Parul Shukla by a margin of 570 votes who got 1265 votes.

For General Secretary post Vikram Kainth of SFI defeated ABVP candidate Tarun Thakur by a margin of 796 votes who got 1318 votes

For Joint Secretary post, Amit Kumar of SFI defeated ABVP candidate Naresh Kumar Dasta by a margin of 751 votes who polled 1340 votes.

NSUI finished at a poor third position in the HPU elections.

Elsewhere in the state SFI won all four top seats in Govt College at Sanjouli, Kotshera, RKMV and the Evening college in Shimla. ABVP won all 4 seats in Sanskrit college Phagli.

In Rampur College, SFI won top three posts of President, Vice President and General Secretary while NSUI bagged the Joint Secretary seat. In Theog, ABVP won three seats and in Nerwa college ABVP won all four top seats. NSUI won all four seats in Seema and Sunni colleges. In Kotkhai, SFI won three seats whereas there was a tie between SFI and NSUI for the post of President.

In district Kangra ABVP swept the polls in majority colleges winning 32 out of 60 posts in 15 colleges while NSUI bagged 12 seats, Azad Chharta Sangathan won 7 seats and SFI won 4 posts. ABVP fared well in Nurpur, Indora, Shubh Dadbhalod, Mand Maini, Dhaliara and Jwalamukhi colleges. In Baijnath ABVP won 3 posts and NSUI bagged 1 seat. In Shahpur all 4 seats were won by NSUI. In DAV college Kangra, NSUI won 3 seats and SFI won 1 seat.

In Sirmaur, it was a mixed bag in Sangrah, Shillai, Nahan and Haripurdhar while ABVP made a clean sweep in Paonta and Rajgarh colleges.

In Solan district, NSUI and ABVP bagged eight seats each with ABVP retaining its hold in Post Graduate College, Solan winning the posts of Vice president, General Secretary and Joint Secretary. In Government Sanskrit College, NSUI had an upper hand as its candidates won the post of President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary.  In Arki college  NSUI defeated ABVP in all four posts. In Nalagarh college it was a clean sweep for ABVP where it won on all four seats.

In Bilaspur, the independent BSA won three posts and NSUI won one seat. ABVP won all four posts in Ghumarwin college. ABVP won 2 seats at Sanskrit college Naina Devi and NSUI bagged one seat. NSUI won all four posts in Jukhala collge. In Swarghat Sanskrit college, ABVP won all four seats and in Jundhata independent JSA bagged all four seats.

In Hamirpur, ABVP won all four seats in colleges at Hamirpur, Badsar, Sujanpur and Bhoranj. In Nadaun, SFI won all four seats and NSUI won all 4 seats in Mehre college.

In Kullu, ABVP won all four seats in Kullu, Ani and Haripur colleges. In Banjar college, ABVP and NSUI won two seats each.

In Mandi, ABVP won all seats at colleges in Mandi, Basa, Dharampur, Lambhathach and Rewalsar.

In Lahul & Spiti, SFI and ABVP won two seats each at Kukum Seri college.
