Himachal VS historic council chamber gets facelift

Shimla: The historic council chamber building housing the Himachal Pradesh Assembly is being given a face-lift.

Goverdhan Singh, Secretary, Vidhan Sabha said the budget session of Himachal assembly would commence from February 28 and the beautification and renovation works of the the building which is reminiscent of British era is expected to be completed well in time. The entire ceiling is being redone as part of the exercise which will brighten the look of the majestic building.

No major repairs, renovations or beautification had taken place in the building after the silver jubilee celebrations of the Vidhan Sabha in 1988 and the building needed attention, he said.

He said the new paneling would be done at a cost of Rs 20 lakh.
