Shimla: Indian Audit & Accounts Department today celebrated 150th Anniversary day. A function was held in Shimla today presided by Chief Minister, Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal.
Dhumal said CAG of India’s was one of the most important constitutional authorities and one of the pillars of Indian Democracy and Indian Audit & Accounts Deptt. functioned as a bridge between the legislature and the executive. He said the auditors played vital role as partners and the executive viewed the auditors as their partners in ensuring accountability and efficient delivery systems in a spirit of public service towards identical goods of economic growth, development and social justice.
He further said that the role of audit was to provide Indian citizens an assurance that the finances were being managed as per the will of the legislature and in as per existing rules and regulations
Dhumal released the compendium of present audit and accounts in the state and also inaugurated the exhibition of books and journals on the occasion.
Rajwant Sandhu, Chief Secretary, also complimented the IA&AS for successfully completing 150 years of its service to the nation.
S.P. Pillay, Director General, National Audit and Accounts institute dwelt upon the historic background of the audit system and shared details of the training programme of the Institute.
