Shimla: Chief Minister Prof. PK Dhumal today inaugurated a three day long Indian Panorama Film Festival at historic Gaiety theatre in Shimla. Speaking at the occasion he said the state Government would make film festival an annual event and added all cooperation would be extended to the Indian Panorama to organise such festivals in the state.
Addressing the inaugural function, Chief Minister said that it was a proud occasion since another golden chapter was being added to the history of art and performing art at the historic Gaiety Theatre which had been the hum of cultural activities during pre and post-independence era. He said that with the organization of films festival at Shimla, art lovers especially film lovers would be able to enjoy the movies of Indian panorama.
He also honoured the participating film personalities and welcomed them to Himachal. Prof. Dhumal welcomed the film personalities to the State for participation in Indian Panorama Film Festival and Government of India for extending its cooperation in organising the festival.
He said the government would extend all possible help to the film industry for shooting their movies in different locations in the state. With increase in film making activities Himachal would get exposed to more visitors from all over the world.
MS Sathya, a renowned film director urged Chief Minister to set up an equipment bank in the State to facilitate the shooting units visiting Himachal. He also suggested to form a Film Society which would screen films regularly in the town.
Local film personality Vivek Mohan, Actor Rahul Bose, Suresh Bhardwaj, MLA, Asha Swarup, Chief Secretary, Manisha Nanda, Principal Secretary, Tourism, BD Sharma, Director, Information and Public Relations, AN Sharma, Commissioner, MC Shimla, JS Rana, Dy Commissioner Shimla were present at the occasion.
