Lawyers take to streets in Shimla; burn former CJ’s effigy

Shimla: Lawyers today burnt the effigy of former Chief Justice of Himachal High Court, VK Gupta while protesting against shifting of Shimla district court complex to Chakker in the outskirts if the town. The lawyers blamed the former Chief Justice for shifting of the district court complex from the present site.

Members of the High Court Bar association also refrained from conducting work and joined the lawyers in their protest. Lawyers held a protest march from DC Office which ended at the High Court gate. Lawyers across the state abstained from the courts in support of the lawyers of district bar association.

Expressing solidarity with the protesting lawyers members of the Shimla Vyapar Mandal observed three hours bandh in support of the Bar Association and kept shutters down.
