Shimla: Frequent load shedding in many part of Himachal Pradesh disrupted life with power supply remaining off at most places affecting residents across the state following acute cold wave in the state.
The government run Himachal Electricity Board could not have timed better it’s maintenance during the ongoing cold weather conditions prevalent in the state.
Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Chairman Subesh Chand Negi said that load shedding was already being announced for this capital town as electrical equipment were being repaired by the technical staff.
He said the State Electricity Board took routine power cut after rainy season to repair the defaulted equipment.
He said that 33 kv station at Totu near Shimla was shut down to repair some equipment which could not be restored till late evening and this affected the power supply in Shimla and nearby villages.
He said the reason for power failure at Dharamshala, Bharmour, Hamirpur, Rampur and Kullu was tripping of power lines and uprooting of electrical poles due to thunder storm.
