Middlesex University plans campus in noida; proposes tie up with IIAS

Shimla: Micheal Driscoll, vice-chancellor Middlesex University of Britain handed over 17 rare photographs of the Viceregal Lodge from the British era which now houses the premier Indian Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS) at Shimla.

He said the university was opening a campus in Noida and proposed a tie up with IIAS for an exchange programme of scholars.

Driscoll said, ‘We are awaiting the nod from the central government to set up the campus. If the permission is soon granted, the campus will be set up by 2011.’

The photos provided by Middlesex University were displayed in the IIAS for public view. The IIAS has also received some photographs from the Bowood Estate of Lord Lansdowne, the second Viceroy to occupy the Viceregal Lodge in 1890 after Lord Dufferin.
