Shimla: Monsoon became active in Himachal Pradesh as heavy showers lashed several areas triggering landslides in the interiors areas of the state. Landslides in the interior areas disrupted traffic at many places on link roads.
Jogindernagar was wettest in the state with 133 mm rains while Baijnath, Palampur and Dharamsala in Kangra district recorded 94 mm, 88 mm and 61 mm rains. Hamirpur, Pandoh and Kasol received 52 mm, Arki 46 mm, Gohar 44 mm, Naduan 37 mm, Nahan 35 mm, Bhoranj, Ghumarwin 33 mm, Jubbarhatti 29 mm, Mandi 25 mm, Karsog, Sundernagar and Kasuali 23 mm and Paonta Sahib 22 mm.
Power supply remained interrupted for nearly three hours in Shimla on Tuesday evening which received 58mm of rain.
However prolonged dry spell in the state have made the apple growers nervous as they fear a fall in overall production of apple crop. Horticulture department in the state had projected a production of 2.5 crore apple boxes in the state.
Met office has forecast more rains in many parts of the state during the next 24 hours.
