More IPS posts sanctioned for Himachal

Shimla: The Central Home Ministry has increased the number of officers in IPS cadre for Himachal Pradesh. Earlier the cadre strength was 75 which has now been increased to 89 as per reports.

ipsAs per the notification new posts of IG and DIG has been sanctioned for the state. New posts of DIG (Narcotics Control Buerau) and DIG (Cyber Crime) has been created. Also a post of DIG (Security) has been created. All these posts will come under the CID.

Post of IG (Intelligence) and ADGP (Law & Order) will now be cadre posts. Earlier these were ex-cadre posts.

The post of IG in all three ranges in the state will also be cadre posts. The government had earlier upgraded the posts of IG from DIG in these ranges but it was pending approval from the Centre.

The post of SP in Baddi police district will also be now a cadre post which was earlier an ex-cadre post.

IG, Administration will now be known as IG, Administration and Welfare. An officer of the rank of IG will head the CTS Logistics (Wireless) wing of the police.

The post of Commandant in the 5th Women IRB battalion and the 6th IRB battalion will now be cadre posts. The 6th IRB battalion is being raised currently and will have it’s headquarters in district Sirmaur.
