NGO welcomes High Court decision on Sunder Nagar cement plant

Shimla: NGO Himalaya Niti Abhiyan (HNA) welcomed Himachal Pradesh High Court’s Green Bench decision quashing the proposed cement plant in Sunder Nagar at Khatarwari village in Mandi district.

The convenor of HNA, Guman Singh in a press statement said that local people of the area were lodging protest against the plant since last four years. He said the land acquisition was started ignoring existence of nature park and wildlife sanctuary in the area.

Calling it a victory of people he hoped that they would succeed to cancel and push back the Lafarge Cement plant at Alsindhi in Karsog, Renuka Dam in Sirmour, Thermal Plant Bagheri in Solan, and many hydro projects.

HNA claimed that last year it succeeded to stall Ski village Manali and SEZ Gagret in Una.
