Chandigarh: Reacting to the news that a Chandigarh district court has issued bailable warrants against her for failing to appear before it in a case filed by Registrar of Companies, actress Preity Zinta tweeted, "I have since learnt that no arrest warrants have been issued in my name. My legal team is looking further into the matter."
A section of media had reported earlier that bailable warrants were issued against Zinta, Ness Wadia and Mohit Burman, IPL franchise owners of Kings XI Punjab as they failed to turn up in a Chandigarh court. The court is hearing a case filed by Registrar of Companies after the owners failed to submit the balance sheet and copy of annual returns of Kings XI Punjab required under the Companies Act.
In a message on twitter, Preity Zinta tweeted, ‘No summons had been served on me by the CJM Chandigarh with regards to appearing in any court case against me today.’
She further tweeted, ‘Sad the news in India is become a joke and idle gossip instead of facts ! This is my official statement ! Thank you.’
However, another co-owner and industrialist Karan Paul’s counsel appeared before the court and submitted that he would appear in person on the next date of hearing.
The court later adjourned the case till October 4. The court had in April issued notice to the four co-owners of KXIP and fixed July 24 as the next date of hearing.
