Shimla: With the onset of monsoon, Shimla is in spate of diarrhoea with 77 cases being reported from different parts of Shimla.
17 people were admitted at IGMC Shimla, 38 people were treated as out patient cases at Civil Dispensary Sanjouli and 16 people were treated at Rippon (DDU) hospital.
Sanjouli area of Shimla is the worst affected in the city.
As per last reports, one death has been reported at the IGMC because of diarrhoea.
A spokesman for the Health department said the health teams visited 250 houses, distributed 1100 tablets of Chlorine and 100 ORS packets in the affected areas. He said the Civil Dispensary, Sanjauli is functioning round the clock for any emergency services. The team also visited two schools in Chamiyana Ward to educate the children with regard to prevention of water borne diseases, he added.
He further said four water samples were collected from different sites and the suspected source Dinghu Bawari (Sanjauli) was also cleaned with the help of IPH and MC Shimla.
The Department is monitoring the situation on day-to-day basis and pamphlets were being distributed in the affected areas to make people aware how to protect from diarrhoea, he added.
