Preity Zinta set to be Himachal Tourism ambassador

Shimla: Actress Preity Zinta is set to become a brand ambassador of Himachal Tourism. This was disclosed by Arun Sharma, Director Tourism, Himachal Pradesh today.

He said Preity Zinta has accepted their offer to promote the state both domestically and internationally and they were in talks with Preity Zinta for past few months.

Preity Zinta is originally from Rohru in Himachal Pradesh. Her ties with the state makes her an ideal person to promote the state. Preity Zinta will be part of state’s new theme and slogan "Unforgettable Himachal’ and ‘A Destination for All Seasons and All Reasons".

Apart from Preity Zinta, Abhishek Bachchan was also a main contender for the job. Abhishek recently offered to promote Himachal Pradesh.

However tourism officials have said that they are very happy that Abhishek Bachchan wants to promote state but they have been in talks with Preity Zinta for over six months since she visited Dharamshala during the IPL Season 3.

Poor Himachali lass! She lives out of State and is probably unaware what embarrassment she is going to face by becoming brand ambassador for Himachal Tourism. Every tourist visiting Shimla wishes to see Kufri and a visit to Kufri is certainly a nightmare. A cloud of dust welcomes the tourists and their faces,clothes and color of their cars cannot be recognized. It is not understood why the PWD is sleeping over the matter and the 500 meter stretch could not be completed even in two years. Pollution deptt. is also silent although this site is probably the most polluted place. Is it not their duty to check the dust pollution at Kufri or they are simply bothered to collect money from the industrilists? Further journey on the national highway from Lafughati to Narkanda shall be a harrowing experience for the tourist. He will either break his bones or his car. I remember that the CM had ordered the PWD to repair the roads damaged by rains within 15 days and there was a news item ‘Chaka chak hongi sarken 15 dino men’ but even after 3-4 months the journey is neck breaking! My advice to lady Zinta would be to please stand at Kufri bypass just for half an hour before she finalizes her decision to become the Tourism brand ambassador otherwise she will be preaching for bad governance.

She has full backing from the authorities. After all the tagline for Himachal Tourism is Unforgettable Himachal. The government has left no stone unturned to make Himachal Unforgettable. Just see the road conditions at 20 km from the state capital.

Let Zinta travel to her native place by road before committing herself
