Roads restored to Sangla in Himachal

Shimla: Road connectivity was finally restored to Sangla valley on Sunday after remaining closed for six days due to landslides triggered by heavy rainfall.

More than 35 domestic tourists stranded in Sangla village in Kinnaur district, moved to their destinations after the reopening of the Karcham-Sangla road.

SDM Naresh Thakur said, ‘The road link was reopened for vehicles on Sunday afternoon and all the stranded tourists left for their destinations in special buses arranged by the government.’

The government had earlier airlifted out 40 tourists, including 24 foreigners from Sangla village on Friday.
