It was snow time in Narkanda today. Narkanda experienced 2 inch of snow during the day. The weather took a U turn today and it started raining in the morning heavily. By 10 in the morning, the peaks around Hatu and Narkanda were in deep fog and the temperature had fallen considerably.
Rains in lower areas have come as a respite as it broke the dry spell for the past 30 days. October had gone dry without any rains. Snowflakes could be seen in Thanedhar in the morning and the day looked set for a date with snowfall.
Elsewhere in the state, Manali received 6 inch of snowfall with Solang Valley and Rohtang Pass recording heavy snowfall. All high passes including the Jallori Pass also received moderate snowfall. Shimla was lashed with rains throughout the day. The lower areas of Himachal also received moderate to heavy rainfall.
The best part is it isn’t over yet. Rains were continuing in the evening and more rains and snow is expected in the night. Weather forecast for the week says rains and snow during entire week.
Season’s first snowfall has finally brought cheers into the tourism trade in the state. Tourists are expected to visit the state in large number once the weather clears up.
