Shimla based arms dealer caught for selling arms to Naxalites

Shimla:  A Shimla based arms dealer have been caught by the special operations group of the Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday for allegedly supplying arms to the Naxalites, SP Shimla Sonal Agnihotri said today.

Agnihotri said Himachal Police has sealed five shops of the arms dealer who was arrested near the India-Nepal border in UP. He said the police sealed shops of arms dealer Manvir Singh Bahra including four arms shops and one chemist shop. Bahra owns arms shop at Shimla, Theog, Arki in Solan district and Kalka in Haryana and a chemist shop in Shimla.

The SP said that 15 ATM cards, four mobile phones, four imported pistols and 1400 round of ammunition was seized from Bahra and another person when they were apprehended by the UP police in Bahraich district which is nearly 130 km from Lucknow.

Agnihotri said as per initial investigations Bahra used to purchase arms and ammunition from a dealer based in Gwalior and sell them to the Naxalites.
