Shimla: State capital Shimla and surroundings experienced snowfall since Saturday morning with temperature taking a dip across entire state. Tourist resorts of Narkanda and Kufri have witnessed over 5 inch of snowfall. Reports of snowfall were also received from various places in Shimla district at Kotkhai, Jubbal and Rohru.
As per reports Kharapathar in Shimla district received 4 inches of snowfall, Narkanda and Kufri received 5 inch of snowfall. State capital Shimla also received snow flakes followed by rains bringing the temperature to sub zero level.
Manmohan Singh, directoru of Shimla Metrological Center said that more rain and snow will fall in next 24 hours due to Western disturbances. He said higher hills of Kinnaur, Lahaul, Spiti and Shimla were experiencing snowfall since morning.
As per met department Shimla recorded a low of 3.2 degress while Manali was at 0.6 degrees and Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded -0.2 degrees Celcius Temperature.
Hoteliers and other players of the tourism industry cheered to the snowfall in state capital as they get ready for the tourist rush for Christmas and New Year. Tourism industry is praying for a white Christmas this year as it would guarantee a large number of tourists to the hill resort. White Christmas has alluded Shimla for past few years.
