Six killed in Himachal road accident in Mandi

Mandi: Six pilgrims were killed and eight seriously injured when a Tata Sumo vehicle went off the road and fell into a gorge in Mandi district on Wednesday.

‘Fourteen people were travelling in a Tata Sumo when it fell into a gorge Tuesday night. The victims were returning from a religious fair at Kamrunag,’ Superintendent of Police S.M. Agnihotri told the media.

He said the victims belonged to three families of a village near Pandoh town in Mandi district. The dead included three women.

The accident occurred about 25 km from Mandi on the Pandoh-Gohar road. Four people died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries at the Mandi district hospital.

The cause of the accident was rash and negligent driving, a police official said.
