Six Nepalis held captive in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: Six Nepalis have been held captive by an unidentified gang since Sunday night in Himachal Pradesh who had come in search of job according to a report in Nepali website Himalayan Times.

All of them hail from Makwanpur district in central Nepal according to the website.

One of the captives told his family back home over telephone that the hostage-takers have demanded Rs. 40,000 per head as ransom for their release. The gang has not been identified as yet.

The captives belong to a backward indigenious community Chepang living in the hilly region of Makwanpur, Chitwan, Dhading and Tanahun districts.
