Shimla: Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) has achieved the highest Plant Availability Factor (PAF) of 108% for the quarter ending June 2012. The PAF for the previous year for the same period was 103.6%.
SJVN Chairman RP Singh said this had resulted in an additional income of Rs. 14.61 crore as Unscheduled Interchange (UI) charges. During the financial year 2011-12, UI income stood at Rs 18.51 crore and additional income of Rs 14.61 crore in the first quarter is a big achievement, he added.
Singh said that during the first quarter there was a 36% decrease in the average discharge of water in river Satluj but the total generation was reduced by only 21%. Overall profit after tax decreased by only 9.46%, mainly due to increase in PAF and UI charges and better management of funds.
He siad with technology innovations in repairs and maintenance of underwater parts, substantial savings were garnered during the period. Not a single component was sent out for hard coating during the full year 2011-12 as they were being repaired in the in-house coating workshop at Project site Jhakri.
The company’s 412 MW Rampur Hydro-electric Project in Shimla district was nearing completion and scheduled to be commissioned in September, 2013.
