HLP rally in Shimla

Shimla: Adopting a tough posture on any form of political activity in the state capital by opposition parties, the BJP govt gave a free hand to the Himachal police to stop political agitations. After the Congress workers who faced the lathis of the police near the AG office in Shimla it was the third front parties of HLP, CPIM and CPI who tasted the brunt of political upmanship of the BJP government near the state Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday.

Hundreds of workers of Himachal Lokhit Morcha gathered at Ambedkar Chowk at Chaura Maidan and staged an impressive rally. They later tried to march to Vidhan Sabha to submit a memorandum.

The police deployed there resorted to lathi charge and water canons were used to disperse the crowd.  The leaders along with the workers of the Morcha were later arrested.

The leaders alleged that the crowd was walking peacefully to the Vidhan Sabha when the police surrounded the crowd from both sides and used the water canons and beat the people.

Leaders of the morcha including Maheshwar Singh, Shyama Sharma, Rakesh Singh and Tikender of CPIM and Shashi Pandit of CPIwere present at the rally.
