Traffic remains disrupted beyond Shimla for third day

Shimla: Misery continued for residents of Himachal Pradesh following the two days snowfall as there was no respite from the severe cold on Monday. Keylong, headquarter of tribal district of Lahul and Spiti recorded a minimum temperature of minus 14.9 degrees Celsius forcing an unprecedented cold wave in the entire tribal district.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a minimum of minus 5.4 degrees where as Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 2.3 degrees Celsius, few degrees higher than minus 3.3 degrees recorded on Sunday.

In lower areas of Himachal, Solan recorded a minimum of 0.6 degrees, Bhuntar in Kullu district was 0.3 degrees and Dharamshala also witnessed temperature in minus at minus 1.8 degrees Celsius.

Road traffic could not be restored for the third day in upper areas of Shimla district as NH 22 remained blocked beyond Shimla. Bus services in upper Shimla remained suspended for the third day due to heacy snowfall.

Owing to cloudy weather today, the local roads in Shimla town saw some traffic in the day.
