A driver fired the shots by mounting an off-duty Detroit officer's car to the wall on the I-75, police say

Detroit – Out of service Detroit Police Officer Injured During a shootout with a pickup truck driver Which repeatedly collided her car on the I-75, according to officials.

The officer was heading south on I-75 near Springwells Street on Southwest Detroit Police said it was around midnight Thursday when it hit the rear of a black Ford F-150.

Officials said that the truck, which was trying to move away, followed it and crashed into its car, attaching it to the building wall.

Police said the 34-year-old man who was driving the truck was known to the officer. He got off the truck and started an exchange of fire with the officer, authorities said.

During the exchange of fire, the police said, both the officer and the 34-year-old were shot.

Officials said the officer sustained a cut in the body before fleeing to Building 7900 on Olivier Street and calling for help. She was taken to a nearby hospital by medical officials and listed as stable.

Police said the 34-year-old was also shot. He was detained and transferred to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The authorities said that the circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.
